Accommodation Payment and Cancellation Policy

You shall pay the hotel directly. Full payment for your hotel accommodation can be made in two ways:

  1. On-site at the hotel on your departure day during check-out. In this case, please fill the credit card details submission form. Credit card information is required to secure your booking.
  2. In advance via bank transfer on receipt of a proforma invoice issued by the hotel. Should this be the case, please send the company details for the pro-forma invoice.

Cancellations must be made in writing to the conference secretariat by email

There will be a fee for hotel booking cancelled after September 1, 2016.

ISSA Conference 2016 will take place at Radisson BLU Hotel Lietuva.

The hotel is situated on the bank of the River Neris in the centre of Vilnius, only a 10-minute walk to the Medieval Old Town. It is easily accessible by taxi or public transport from the airport.

The official Conference language is English. English-Lithuanian-English translation will be provided during all plenary sessions and one parallel  session.


All foreign visitors entering Lithuania must have a valid passport or identification card. For some countries a visa is required. Information on the visa requirements and the location of embassies can be found on the website of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For all inquiries and invitation letters for visa, please check the section Travel documents or contact the conference secretariat. Please ensure you apply for a visa well in advance of your journey.


Lithuania has a typical Central European climate. October is usually not very warm in Vilnius. It is a good idea to bring an overcoat for cool evenings and an umbrella for a shower. Daily weather updates can be found here.


Official currency in Lithuania is Euro.

Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most shops, hotels and restaurants. You will find an ATM on nearly every corner.


Electricity in Lithuania is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second. Plugs are European standard with two round pins.


Post Office: 07:00 – 19:00 Monday – Friday. 09:00 – 16:00 Saturday.

Banks: 08:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday in the city centre & 10:00 – 22:00 in the shopping centres (closest to Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva is Panorama SC (Saltoniskiu str. 9).

Shops: food 08:00 – 22:00 (Monday – Sunday) others 10:00 – 22.00 (Monday – Sunday).

All participants are reminded that neither the Organizing Committee nor the technical organizer KALANIS are liable for any losses, accidents or damage done to persons or private property. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.


Direct flights are available from all major European Cities and many from larger cities across the world. Connecting flights can be caught at main international airports in Europe, such as Copenhagen, Prague, Riga, Frankfurt.

Getting to Vilnius center from the International Vilnius Airport

Vilnius Airport (“Oro uostas” in Lithuanian) is just 7 km (12 min by car) away from Vilnius Old Town. Please find the distance in the map.

Taxi service

For your convenience the conference secretariat will be at your disposal for a taxi service reservation for reaching your hotel or any other place in Vilnius center. In order to reserve a taxi please contact a secretariat by e-mail.

An estimated price for a taxi from the airport to the city center is 20 EUR. Additionally, a taxi driver waiting for you at the airport waiting hall with a specially prepared your name card is available to be ordered via conference secretariat. This service is extra charged from 5 to 10 EUR.

How to reach Vilnius center by bus

Tickets for buses can be bought on a bus.

Regular ticket prices:

– regular ticket – 1,00 €;
– ticket for students – 0,50 € (you have to have your student ID)

How to reach Vilnius center by train

It is about 5 km from the airport to Vilnius Railway Station is, the journey takes up to 8 minutes. Trains run approximately every 60 minutes. The routes and schedules can be found at Tickets can be purchased on the train or at Vilnius Railway Station. Ticket prices are 0.67-1.00 €.


Lithuania has a well-developed network of roads. There are two European Highways, with branch lines, Via Baltica (Helsinki – Warsaw, part of the E67 that runs to Warsaw and Prague) and West – East (Klaipeda – Moscow). Traffic in Lithuania drives on the right-hand side of the road.

Speed limits

– 50km/h in towns
– 80 km/h outside the towns
– 100/110/130 km/h on highways according to a road type and season


Parking on pavement is forbidden unless the signs tell otherwise. Parking usually is paid, you can pay in the nearest parking automaton. The payment value depends on the parking lot place.


Automatic gas stations serve customers all 24 hours. They accept cash and credit cards.


There is a choice of international bus lines connecting Vilnius with other European cities. There are direct buses to Vilnius from Belarus, Denmark, France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Latvia, Poland, Estonia and Russia. Please find the routes and buy the tickets on the Lux Express website or on the Eurolines website.

The conference secretariat remains at your service for any help regarding your travel to Lithuania or for any questions or requests you may have.


Visitors who are not citizens of a European Union Member State and who want to enter the Republic of Lithuania must be in possession of the appropriate visa.

If you are in possession of a valid Schengen visa, or national visa issued by other Schengen state, you may enter the Republic of Lithuania and remain for the period indicated on a visa, but not exceeding 90 days in any 180 day period


To visit Lithuania, you must have a valid passport or ID card (if you are a citizen of an EU country). A visa is required for citizens of countries that do not have visa-exemption agreements with Lithuania. Participants who require a letter of invitation from the Migration Department under the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania may contact the conference secretariat to apply for the invitation letter. It is not obligatory for those who are going to take care of the visa by themselves.

We kindly request that you consult with the relevant institutions in your country about the procedure and required documents before inquiring for the invitation letter.

  1. Participant must be registered and have fully paid participant’s fee.
  2. Invitation letter preparation fee – 15 Eur. Payment must be made by bank transfer.
  3. Documents to submit for the secretariat:
